What you cannot carry in your hand luggage

When planning a trip, most of us carefully choose what to take with us on the plane. But even experienced travelers sometimes forget about airline restrictions and international safety rules.

To avoid losing your favorite perfume or new multi-purpose knife at security, it is important to know what is prohibited from being carried into the aircraft cabin.

1 Liquids and gels over 100 ml

This is the most common mistake made by passengers. Only small amounts of liquids are allowed in carry-on luggage — up to 100 ml each, and they must all be in a single transparent plastic bag with a capacity of up to 1 liter.

This category includes: perfumes, shampoos, creams, lotions, toothpaste, liquid soap, drinks, soups, and sauces.

👉 Even if the bottle is half empty but larger than 100 ml, it will be confiscated.

2 Sharp and pointed objects

Anything that can be used as a weapon is prohibited in the cabin. This includes: knives, scissors, blades, manicure tools, bottle openers, screwdrivers, sewing needles. If you cannot do without your manicure set, it is better to put it in your luggage.

3 Flammable and explosive substances

Lighters, gas canisters, fireworks, and hairspray in large cans are strictly prohibited. The reason is simple: even a small spark or pressure can create a hazard during flight.

4 Tools and sports equipment

Yes, even a small wrench or baseball bat can cause delays at security. This category includes hammers, saws, screwdrivers, tennis rackets, ski poles, and golf clubs. Such items must always be checked in.

5 Restricted food items

Most solid foods (cookies, sandwiches, fruit) are allowed, but liquids and soft foods (yogurt, sauces, soups, jams) are subject to the 100 ml rule.

It is also worth avoiding foods with a strong smell — fish, cheese, garlic. Your neighbors on the plane will definitely not appreciate it😅

6 Certain medications and equipment

Liquid medications can be carried in quantities exceeding 100 ml, but only with a prescription or a doctor’s note.

Power banks, electronic cigarettes, and lithium batteries, on the other hand, must be carried in your carry-on luggage, not in your checked luggage, due to the risk of fire.

Before each flight, check the rules of the specific airline — they may vary slightly.

Remember: a safe and peaceful flight begins with properly packed carry-on luggage.
